Mole Control In Southaven MS - Cutting Edge Technology!

At Apex Wildlife Control, we stay on the cutting edge of mole control and maintenance technology for our clients!

Using a special compressor made just for this purpose, our technician will inject Carbon Monoxide into the ground which will quickly fill a 200 foot long mole tunnel. Any moles in those tunnels will be humanely euthanized within 2 to 3 minutes. By injecting this gas underground, there is no danger for children or pets, and no damage to your lawn or garden. We do not utilize any poisons or pesticides.

If you are sick and tired of seeing ugly tunnels and hills in your beautiful lawn, give Apex Wildlife Control a call today! Our skilled technicians are ready to help!

Mole Control In Southaven MS - Mole Damage

Moles must constantly tunnel in search of food. A tiny 5-6 ounce mole can eat up to 50 pounds of insects, worms, and grubs a year! These little guys have a super fast metabolism and must eat constantly to feed this voracious appetite.

Moles produce two types of “runways.” One type is just beneath the surface. These are feeding tunnels and appear as raised ridges running across your lawn. The second type of runway is deeper and used to connect the burrow nesting site. The soil excavated from the deeper tunnels is what homeowners find on their lawns, piled up in mounds  resembling little volcanoes.

Mole Control In Southaven MS - Why Do I Have Moles?

Mole activity usually increases in the Spring when the ground starts to thaw and the insects become active. Spring is also the time when female moles complete their gestation period. Typically in May a female mole gives birth to 2 to 6 naked babies in a cozy nest in one of the deeper burrows. Baby moles grow very quickly. They can take care of themselves when they are only about one month old!  By five to six weeks, the pups will leave their mother and their home tunnel. They are now independent and and are making their own burrows by late Summer or Fall.

Because moles are territorial, each baby will travel out in various directions to find a new territory.  Moles try to avoid each other as they know if they do meet, it’s a fight to the death!

Mole Extermination In Southaven MS - Do Moles Carry Diseases?

Moles are generally not considered serious disease carriers, but they can carry parasites such as ticks and fleas. The fleas can potentially transmit infectious diseases such as Lyme disease.  Predators are exposed and can catch these diseases when digging for moles.  Domestic dogs and cats will dig for moles as well, but this should be discouraged by the pet owners.

Due to the dangers of bacteria, be careful not to touch dead moles with your bare hands when disposing of them. In very rare cases, moles have been known to carry rabies, but the more likely risk is from parasites.
