Raccoons In Your Crawl Space In Arlington TN

Do you have raccoons in your crawl space in Arlington, TN? Raccoons can easily fit through small crawl spaces and can squeeze into the crawl space beneath your home. You may start to hear noises like bumping, banging or scratching underneath the floors of your home.

The first thing to check for is OPEN TRASHCANS. Then ask around to ensure your neighbors are not feeding local wildlife. While this may not seem like a big deal to most people, it can create major problems for other people in the neighborhood. Also, leaving dog and cat food outdoors is also another way to attract raccoons. For more information, check out Raccoon Removal In Arlington TN.

Why Do Raccoons Like Crawl Spaces?

When a raccoon finds good feeding grounds it will want to stay close by. Raccoons search for quiet places that are easily accessible to a plentiful food and water source. Crawl spaces typically will also have a ready supply of mice or rats, and it is considerably cooler under the house. Hopefully, this is not your situation. But if it is, Apex Wildlife Control is here to help!

Signs You Have Raccoons In Your Crawl Space In Arlington TN

Take a walk around your home to look for holes that are bigger than a baseball or any where that appears to be chewed or with claw marks which are clear signs that an animal bigger than a squirrel has been going in and out of the hole. Raccoons are opportunists and tend to use holes that are already available to them. It is not typical for a raccoon to dig a new hole. Ground vents and rotted wood are also points of entry for raccoons and other animals.

Full Exclusion And Trapping Of Raccoons In Your Crawl Space In Arlington TN

If you have signs that raccoons are in your crawl space you have a couple of different options. Apex Wildlife Control performs outside trapping or trapping full exclusion. Full exclusion means that we completely seal your home against re-entry by raccoons or other animals. Outside trapping means we set humane live traps that traps the animal for relocation. The raccoon is released about twenty-five miles from your home so that they are not able to find their way back to your property.

Our expert wildlife technicians will conduct a full interior inspection of your home from the crawl space to your attic to locate all possible entry points. He will check for any damage under the house which includes all the ground vents. The technician will then perform an exterior inspection from your foundation to the roof line. The technician will also photograph any damage he finds so you can see what is going on under your home. He checks the foundation and all the crawl space doors as well. Upon completion of his inspection the technician will provide you with a quote to repair any damages, seal the points of entry, and trap any animals present.

Outside Raccoon Trapping Service

Apex Wildlife Control also offers outside trapping services. Exclusion work or sealing any points of entry to the home are not included with outside trapping only.

Our technician will come out and verify the species gaining access to your crawl space. After he verifies the species, he will set traps outside in the best location possible. We will set out three traps unless we know there are more than three raccoons present.

Raccoon Bait And How We Trap

Our wildlife technicians are very knowledgeable. When selecting the best possible bait for an outside trap we must consider other wildlife and domestic animals in the area. We will use a species specific bait that is less likely to attract stray cats or outdoor pets to avoid accidentally trapping the wrong species or any domestic animals.

Outside trapping is a seven-day trapping process. During that period we schedule three trap checks (every 36 hours). You will not need to be home for trap checks, but we ask that you check the traps daily and give us a call should an animal be caught in between trap checks. This will allow us to remove to the animal sooner in order prevent dehydration.

Trapping Guarantee When Not Performing Exclusion

Apex Wildlife Control is very successful with outside trapping for raccoons. Our company cannot guarantee our outside trapping services because we cannot make an animal go into a trap. The goal is to attract them with bait so they chose to go into the trap. However, they can always choose not to enter the trap. Some animals are smarter than others, especially if the animal has been trapped in the past. This causes them to become trap-shy, and they will refuse to go into a trap no matter what. It is generally easier to trap younger animals.

Raccoon Relocation

Apex Wildlife Control does not use kill traps for raccoons. Once we catch them in our live traps we will take them about twenty-five miles away from your property. This is far enough that they will not be able to find their way back to your home. If you have a family of raccoons, we always attempt to catch them and relocate the the family together for the best chance for their survival.

Apex is here for any and all of your wildlife needs. There is no problem too big or small for us to handle. So give us a call at 901-598-8555 if you think you have raccoons in your crawl space in Arlington, TN. We will be happy to help!
